She stood beside the window looking at the garden. She was not in a mood to enjoy the cool breeze ruffling through her hair. How could she be? Cancer at the age of 22 is not an easy task to deal with. Someone once told her that pain demands to be felt. She has always felt it. Too much of medicine, chemotherapy treatments may or may not have destructed her cancer cells, but they definitely destroyed her hair cells. She lost her beautiful long hair.
Mirror, she hates to look at it these days because it shows not her face but her pain. “I don’t look beautiful anymore,” she thought to herself and that is when a small butterfly came through the window and sat on her left shoulder.
“I like you,” the butterfly whispered in her ears.
“Me? But why?” she asked with a bewildered look on her face.
“Because you are beautiful.”
“Are you kidding me? Hairless head and pumpkin face looks beautiful to you??”
“It’s not about your looks. Its about your attitude. Every time you fell sick and every time you had to bear so much pain, you always believed that it is the last pain you have to bear and you always believed that there is dawn at the end of darkness. You are a real fighter fighting against one of the most dreadful diseases in the world. You have always believed that you can come out of it and be a successful survivor.Your confidence is the most beautiful thing you have and you are beautiful,” the butterfly whispered again and flew back to the garden through the window.
She went straight to the dressing table, looked at the mirror and smiled.
“I am beautiful. Yes I am!” she murmurred with confidence.
#No matter what, be confident to be beautiful
